Start from a ridiculously high number like 150 or 1,000 and count down. Counting is a boring task, and it’ll cause you to become sleepy a lot more quickly than just staring at your ceiling. You don’t have to count sheep or goats or alligators—just start counting down from any number over 100, and you’ll fall asleep in no time.
