Senators list Jonathan’s sins

The move to have Jonathan impeached has continued to gather momentum as the pro-impeachment Senators and Representatives have come up with 14 allegations against Goodluck Jonathan.

It was reported that the lawmakers are expected to harmonize their allegations with members of the House of Representatives before sending an impeachment request to Senate President David Mark, in line with Section 143 (1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution.

Topping the 14 impeachable allegations are:

1. The President’s refusal to sign 120 bills into law.

2.  Why he could not curb the Boko Haram insurgency ravaging the north eastern part of the country.

3.  The president’s inability to secure the release of the over 219 abducted Chibok girls, amongst others.

The pro-impeachment Senators and Representatives are to meet before the end of the week to choose a date.

Other allegations includes, violation of the constitution/ Oath of Office; failure to implement recommendations of panels/ committees; setting up of ill-conceived, “nebulous” groups like TAN for re-election campaign outside the Electoral Act; failure to establish and inaugurate the Nigeria Police Council; illegal deployment of Armed Forces and sowing seed of hatred and turning one part of the country against the other.
