Thanksgiving is a time where families meet up, have dinner together, watch the football game, get into arguments about politics, then promise to get together again for Christmas one month later. This festive holiday can be a nightmare to prepare for, but if you know your relatives are going to pay for your time and effort, it gives you a reason to soldier on.
The only problem is that nobody wants to pay for Thanksgiving dinner at a relative’s house. People will bring their own dishes, but if you ask them to chip in to buy a turkey after you’ve had dinner, you’re a jerk.
