The real saying—blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb—means that relationships you willingly make are better than those you’re forced to live with. In other words, if you have a brother like this, he’s not worth maintaining a relationship with.
The brother in this story has proven that he’s not worth dealing with ever again. The brother sold a camera to the OP for $200 because he wanted a new one. When the camera arrived, the OP learned that it was broken. The brother said he sold it because it was broken and that he wasn’t going to return the $200.
