#8: Chalk It Up to Experience
Do they still have chalkboards in classrooms? Even in my day, they were largely being phased out in favor of white boards. And I totally get why. There’s something charming and nostalgic about a chalkboard, but they are squeaky and no matter how much you rub your eraser over them, you never quite manage to get them cleaned off.

And most of all, chalk is, well, chalky. Anytime you used it, you got chalk powder all over your hands. That’s why people invented chalk holders: a single one so you could write without getting messy, or the five-chalk model that allows music teachers to easily draw a musical staff on a chalkboard.
