Classrooms are totally different places these days than they were when I was a kid. We didn’t have computers, and our only projectors were the type that shined a light through a transparent sheet and reflected it onto the wall. All of our teachers’ class decorations were handmade.

And if you wanted to show a map, you had to physically have a map in the room. There was none of this “pull up Google Maps” nonsense that teachers do now. So, to save space, these maps were rolled up and stored on the ceiling, so they could be pulled down and pointed at. I could still remember the sound they made.
