#39: Let’s Chalk About It
There was a time when chalkboards ruled the classroom. It makes sense, after all; there really wasn’t another solution for letting the teacher write an erase and write an erase in front of the class. But if you’ve never had the misfortune to use a chalkboard, let me tell you, they definitely have their downsides.

It’s really easy to accidentally break chalk in half, for starters. Chalk dust got everywhere, and you always had to wash your hands after you’d held a piece of chalk for very long. Also, when you erase a chalkboard, you’re not really erasing so much as you are smearing the chalk dust everywhere. So the more you used a chalkboard, the more it got coated in a layer of white chalk dust.
