#18: The End of the Rope
Now, I lucked out with this next one: I never had a gym class where they made us climb ropes. That is very fortunate, because I was an abject failure in absolutely everything in my PE classes, so I have no doubt that rope climbing would just have allowed me to embarrass and injure myself at a greater height than normal.

But I’ve seen enough TV and heard enough horror stories to know that there was a time when being able to climb a rope was considered a vital skill they made you learn in school. Why on earth is that? What did they suppose was going to happen to us? Who has ever actually had to climb a rope out in the real world?
