#9: The Stages of Work in Retail
Actually, it feels like this applies to any type of job, not only retail. When you start out at a new workplace, at first, you’re young and dumb, naive, and you have good intentions (like Patrick). Then, in the second stage, you’re extremely motivated and hopeful, and you want to prove yourself as a valuable member of the team (like Spongebob).
In the third stage, you start to develop an attitude problem. You realize you’re stuck at a dead-end job, that you don’t like your peers or your boss, and you don’t necessarily like the job either. You become bitter and unpleasant (like Squidward). Some of us arrive at that stage after a couple of months at the job, and for others, it takes years, but sooner or later, we all become Squidward.
