#44: Get Out
Why do people feel like they can negotiate the price of an item at a chain store? This isn’t a garage sale, and the employees of the store have no power whatsoever on the prices. There are many places in life when negotiation comes in handy, but a store – particularly a chain store – is not one of these places.
There’s no point in arguing over the price of an item because the employees can’t give you a discount even if they wanted (and they don’t). Trying to negotiate the price of an item is not only pointless, but it wastes your time as well as the employee’s time. Although, when working in retail, sometimes it feels like you’ve got nothing but time.
