#3: I Rather Not
During a long shift working in retail (and any other profession, really), the only thing keeping us going is knowing that the shift will be over soon. We’re counting the minutes, telling ourselves we only have two more hours to go until this nightmare is over, and we can finally go home, take a shower, and crawl into bed.

The last thing we want is for the boss to ask us to stay an extra hour or even an extra five minutes. On the other hand, people who work in shifts always complain about how they don’t get enough shifts, and they could use the extra hours (and the extra money). When push comes to shove, no matter how much you need the money, when we’re asked to stay an extra five minutes at work – that’s the expression we all have.
