#18: Get Carter (2000)
The 1971 Get Carter was cold, bleak, and vicious, with Michael Caine bringing a dead-eyed menace that made the whole film feel morally damp. The Stallone remake could not capture that same chill. It turned the material into something more conventional and less poisonous. The original felt like revenge crawling through a rotten city. The remake felt like a star vehicle looking for grit and finding a leather jacket instead.
