20 Remake/Requel Fails That Proved Nostalgia Has Limits

The original Point Break worked because it had an absurdly sincere bromance at its center. Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze gave the movie soul beneath the surfing, bank robberies, and glorious nonsense. The remake expanded the extreme sports, but forgot the emotional hook. Bigger stunts do not automatically mean bigger stakes. Without the strange spiritual chemistry between cop and criminal, it became a travel-adrenaline montage looking for a heartbeat.
