#14: The Fog (2005)
John Carpenter’s The Fog is all atmosphere: coastal dread, ghostly revenge, radio voices, old sins, and mist rolling in like bad conscience. The remake tried to update it for a younger crowd and ended up feeling like a teen drama wandering through damp horror leftovers. The mood evaporated, which is especially unfortunate for a movie literally called The Fog. If the mist isn’t scary, you’re mostly left with moisture.
