#13: Carrie (2013)
Carrie White is supposed to feel painfully isolated, fragile, repressed, and frightening because her power grows out of humiliation and trauma. Chloë Grace Moretz is a strong actress, but the remake struggled to make her feel like a truly invisible outcast. The story became cleaner, more modern, and less tragic. Brian De Palma’s version had operatic cruelty and emotional ugliness. This one had polish, but Carrie should never feel polished.
