#16: The World-Building
Red Apple cigarettes, Big Kahuna Burger, Jack Rabbit Slim’s, fictional radio stations, invented brands, repeated names, and connected histories make Tarantino’s films feel like they belong to one private movie universe. That is not modern franchise world-building in the superhero sense. It feels more like old studio backlot mythology, where places, props, and faces recur until they become familiar. His world is artificial on purpose, a movie-world made out of other movie-worlds.
