Tax Loopholes
“Hello, Sir/Madam. Your total comes to $420.69. Would you like to round that up to $500 and make a contribution to a charity?” Why not give them the extra $79.31? After all, it’s for a good cause, right? Right? WRONG. And why are multibillion-dollar corporations asking us to donate? They have more money than they know what to do with!
Anyway, back to the main point. The company will indeed take all of the donations collected from its customers, but they’ll use it as a tax write-off. Every cent they donate to charity can be deducted from the taxes they owe from sales and profits. You’re better off donating the money and filing for tax relief for yourself.
