Lies Upon Lies
Here’s something that’ll make your blood boil in anger. If your telephone or internet provider is Verizon, or probably any of the other telecom companies out there, odds are they’re going to upsell to you every chance they get. Now, that wouldn’t be a problem since that’s their job, but what about blatantly lying to potential customers?
While the OP didn’t describe what sort of lies Verizon employees are encouraged to tell, we can assume it has to do with coverage, costs, after-sales services, maintenance, and when the danged person is going to come and set up internet in your home.
