American Healthcare, Y’all
Do you remember the explanation of why grocery stores don’t make a ton of money from selling products in their middle aisles? It all has to do with the supply chain, but in the healthcare industry, at least in America, it’s a million times worse for the patients.
According to the OP, to make a specific medical device only costs $700. A buyer buys that from the manufacturer for $3,000. The buyer then distributes it to hospitals in the city for $7,000 each. Then the hospital sells that same device to the end-user—the patient—for a whopping $10,000. Why not just buy the device from the manufacturer? Can you afford to meet the minimum order quantity for a price break?
