#8: Job Qualifications
Back in the 1940s, if you wanted to be a TWA flight attendant, you had to meet some pretty strict job qualifications. First, you had to be a single woman between the ages of 21 and 26(!) and stand between 5’2″ and 5’9″ tall. You also had to have a weight proportional to your height (which rules out my love of cheeseburgers).

But the requirements didn’t stop there! You had to have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to swim at least 50 yards, and have perfect eyesight. Did I mention you had to be fluent in English, French, and Spanish? No pressure, right? It’s good that I wasn’t alive then, or I would have been grounded before my career took off!
