#18: Mmm, Bacon…

In costume competitions, there are winners, and then there are winners who dress up as bacon. It may not sound fancy today, but in 1894, a man won a costume competition while dressed as a piece of bacon. We’re not sure what the other contestants were dressed as, but we’re pretty sure they didn’t stand a chance against a man in a pork-inspired ensemble.

The best part? The man reportedly won a bicycle as his prize, which we can only hope he rode around while still wearing the bacon costume. And who can blame him? If we’d won a costume competition as a piece of bacon, we’d want to show off our victory to the world, too.
