Electric fans have existed since 1886 but didn’t become widespread until the 1920s. By then, the technology was refined and much easier to mass produce. More and more people could have fans like this one in their homes and offices. This fan and others like it were made of metal. They were advertised as economical and “modern.” It was modern and cutting-edge for the time!
