#21: An Early Vacuum Cleaner

This is an early invention that definitely doesn’t suck. Sorry, we had to pull that joke because this is a 1905 vacuum. Hubert Cecil Booth is credited with this invention. Booth was a British inventor who made his original vacuum in 1901. This 1905 model is very similar to the first iteration.

This vacuum cleaner was powered by an oil engine, making it a far cry from our small electric vacuum cleaners today. This Red Trolley vacuum cleaner was a hit when it was invented. The original invention was used to clean Westminster Abbey before the coronation of 1901. It was also a modern marvel that was adopted by the Royal Navy to keep the barracks clean.
