#14: 3D Movie Technology
We’ve all seen 3D movies come and go over the years. For whatever reason, they seem to remain a fad instead of a mainstay of movie theaters. However, many of you might be surprised to learn that the science behind 3D movies has been around for quite some time. 3D movies are not just a product of the 1980s and 90s. This technology has been around since the early 1900s!
The first 3D movie that involved wearing those signature dual-color glasses came out around 1915. The first major 3D movie release was The Power of Love in 1922. The movie was released in Los Angeles, but it wasn’t a hit. The film is lost to time, so there’s no way for anyone today to watch it. However, it’s interesting to know that this technology has been around for so long but has never taken off in a big way.
