Lea Thompson had always dreamed of being a ballet dancer, but when she auditioned for Mikhail Baryshnikov, who told her that she was “a beautiful dancer… but too stocky”, that’s when her dreams were crushed and she turned to acting. She appeared in Red Dawn in 1984, but her big break came in 1985 with Back to the Future.
