#2: “Down goes Frazier!” – Howard Cosell (1973) – Foreman knocks out Joe Frazier
Cosell’s unmistakable voice carried through radios and televisions as George Foreman floored Joe Frazier not once but several times in Kingston, Jamaica. Each knockdown had Cosell exclaiming, “Down goes Frazier!” with more urgency. By the third fall, his words had become almost musical, stamping the phrase into boxing history. It was Foreman’s night to become champion, but it was also one of Cosell’s most famous calls, still repeated whenever someone takes an unexpected tumble.
