#6: Pamukkale (Turkey)
In Turkish, the name means ‘cotton castle,’ and that’s a perfect description. For thousands of years, hot springs have cascaded down this hillside, leaving behind white travertine terraces. The result looks like a frozen waterfall or a series of bright white infinity pools. The ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis was built at the top to take advantage of these healing waters. The combination of natural wonder and ancient ruins earned the site UNESCO protection in 1988. It truly looks like a palace made of clouds that fell to Earth.
