#19: Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (Brazil)
It’s a desert filled with water. That seems impossible, but it exists in Brazil. This national park is a huge area of white dunes. But for several months each year, rainwater collects in the valleys between the dunes, creating thousands of temporary freshwater lagoons. The contrast of the bright white sand and the deep blue and green water is stunning. You can walk across the dunes and then cool off with a swim in one of the pools. It becomes a unique landscape every year.
