Why Can’t You Vape on an Airplane?
Some passengers want to know why vaping on an airplane is not allowed. They may pose less of a fire risk than cigarettes but it’s still a possibility like the time an e-cigarette was activated unintentionally due to pressure applied by overhead luggage. This could cause the battery to overheat resulting in a fire.
Also, the vapor from an e-cigarette looks very much like smoke and the cabin crew would be unable to tell the difference between the two. As a result, genuine smoke could go unnoticed. Aircraft smoke detectors can’t differentiate between the two and could be set off causing unwanted panic. Lastly, second-hand “smoke” is just not fun, especially in an enclosed cabin.
