What are all the Lights on an Airplane?
Twinkle twinkle little star, what are those lights you see from afar? Airplanes have all kinds of lights on them and each of these serves an important purpose. There’s a red light on the left-wing and a green one on the right. These are called navigation lights and help make an aircraft visible to air traffic controllers and other pilots. They also help others determine which direction a particular aircraft is moving in so they can stay out of the way.
The wingtips also have flashing white strobes which are turned on just before takeoff and during landing. Planes also have a flashing red beacon on the top and bottom known as an anti-collision light and they have a landing light to help pilots see better.
