What is the Ding Sound?
Whether it’s your first flight or you’re a veteran traveler, you would have noticed those “ding” sounds every now and then. For one, you can hear them when the “Fasten Seat Belt” signs are turned on and off. They also come up when the aircraft has reached 10,000 feet and it’s safe to turn on your electronic devices.
But when you hear them at other random times, what is it about? Well, it’s secret communication between the pilots and the cabin crew related to everything from the landing gear being retracted to priority messages to even letting them know that there’s turbulence up ahead.
