#16: “Kill Point-Blank” — To Do Something Perfectly

In 50s slang, to do something point-blank was to get it on target. The phrase comes from the language of archery or shooting where a point-blank shot was one you could not miss. It sounds a little violent, but that wasn’t the intent, it just meant it was effective. Nowadays, someone might read this phrase as aggressive rather than appreciate the precision and clarity.
