It takes a minute to figure out what’s wrong with this photo. At first, you might think it’s your vision or your head that’s slightly tilted, but it isn’t—it’s the toilet. It’s just a little bit off-center, but enough to drive anyone crazy. Why is it facing sideways? Didn’t the person who installed this toilet notice it was crooked?

We feel like we’re repeatedly asking this question, which gets us nowhere. This is the kind of thing that would make me reject the apartment. As difficult and exhausting as it can be to find the perfect apartment, this kind of thing disqualifies it altogether. How could you live with this toilet?
