When you order a doughnut with sprinkles, you expect sprinkles to cover the entire doughnut. The same goes for chocolate chips, glaze, and any other topping. You expect to have toppings all over the doughnut – after all, that’s what you pay extra money for. Otherwise, you could’ve just ordered a plain doughnut.

However, expectations aside and reality aside, we know that our expectations—as reasonable as they may be—don’t always match reality. Just like you pay for a full bag of potato chips and receive a bag half empty (or filled with air, depending on how you look at it), we know that when you buy a doughnut with sprinkles, you can’t expect to have too many sprinkles on it.
