Where’s Autocorrect When You Need It?
It’s absolutely true that there’s no “I” in the word “happyness,” but that’s only if you misspell it. If spelled correctly, there’s clearly an “I” in happiness. We’re surprised this person’s autocorrect didn’t catch the typo. That said, why does the word “happy” have no “I” but “happiness” does? Where’s the logic?
We could blame the English language for all of its inconsistencies and strange rules, and that’s what we’re going to do. And don’t for a second fall for the sound-spelling trick that your teachers taught you in elementary school. 99% of the time, sound-spelling doesn’t work. There are far too many silent letters in the English language.
