It’s safe to say that going to college is no longer a guaranteed way to secure a well-paying job. It’s definitely a different world than when we were young! Naturally, older adults tend to give advice based on their life experiences. But what happens when that advice no longer lines up with the realities facing young people today?
Back in the day, college students could take out loans to pay for tuition without having to worry too much. A college degree almost guaranteed a high-paying, stable job. It was a given that college grads could pay off their debt in a few years. That’s simply not the case these days. Many young people take out loans and then can’t find a well-paying job after graduation. The loan interest keeps piling up, but the paychecks don’t come or they stay stagnant. It’s time we reevaluate some of our general college advice.
