#10: Cheer Up
Opening up to coworkers is risky business. If you ask for advice, be prepared to learn things about your coworkers you may not like. This woman learned that her old coworker was the worst possible advice-giver in the history of the world. Her ex-coworker once told her to have a baby to “cure” her depression.
Sure, babies can be cute, but when have they ever been a cure for depression? First off, telling a coworker to have a baby is wildly out of line. Second, did this ex-coworker not know about postpartum depression? We have a feeling that someone already dealing with depression would be at pretty high risk for postpartum depression. The lesson of this story is to never give out intimate life advice to coworkers.
