Believe it or not, this next one is something that I’ve heard too: that a woman who lives alone is probably going to get into all sorts of trouble, if you know what I mean. And yes, this is something an older person said to my face when they heard I lived alone.

To that, I say: phooey. What an incredible tragedy it would be to go from living with your parents to living with your spouse. You would miss all the delights of living alone: sole control of the remote, all the fridge and closet space, and the ability to walk around in your underwear and make as many messes as you want. It is truly a stupendous way to live.
