Guys, we just looked on Google, and guess what? Because the name “frosted flakes” is so generic, it’s impossible for anyone, even Kellogg’s, to trademark the name. And that’s why Signature Select, a food brand owned by Albertsons Cos., could use the name without repercussion.
So, if anyone wants to get in on the frosted flakes game, by all means, use Frosted Flakes as your product name. Nobody can do anything about it except point out that you’re trying to copy Kellogg’s. However, there was no way Signature Select could’ve used Tony the Tiger, though they could’ve come up with a similar mascot like Lenny the Lion.
