Musical theater nerds like myself might be horrified to see the familiar Xanadu on a list of obscure films. But, let’s be honest, it’s no West Side Story. A loose adaptation of Down to Earth from 1947, Xanadu is about a Greek muse named Kira who comes down from Olympus to reinvigorate the creativity of a struggling artist named Sonny. Despite being a fan favorite, this film did so poorly that it helped inspire the Golden Raspberry Awards—mostly known as the Razzies, which are given to the worst movies of the year.
