Dicksonia Plantation in Alabama
The Dicksonia Plantation was purchased by Robert Dickson in 1901. Like countless other mansions across the world, this one was burned down by a housefire, leaving it in utter ruins after 30 years. In the 1960s, people decided to give the home a second life, but that didn’t turn out very well.
The man in charge did his best to fireproof the home, but another housefire swallowed it up. This time, the world learned that the Dicksonia Plantation wasn’t meant to stand for very long, so the current owner left it in its state. Today, it’s used as a prop for movies, such as Big Fish.
