People Who Got a Healthy Dose of Reality

December 12, 2015 by Veronica Phillips

Me, Myself and I

Some people have preferred pronouns – ways that they are preferred to be referred to that depict their gender identity. One person holds a strong opinion about preferred pronouns: they think it is for “people who lack confidence in themselves”. What they don’t realize is they also have a preferred pronoun- “me”.

We think having a preferred pronoun is the opposite of a lack of self-confidence. It means this person knows who they are and is confident about their identity. It also takes a lot of guts to ask people to refer to you a certain way; it means you know who you are and you’re not apologetic for being yourself.
