#14: Dear John (1988-1992)
Dear John was a low-key ‘80s sitcom that hit a very specific vibe: a freshly dumped guy joins a support group full of lovable weirdos, and somehow it’s both a little bit cringey and funny. It starred Judd Hirsch as John, a guy who gets blindsided by a “Dear John” letter from his wife and ends up rebuilding his life by hanging out with a group of misfits at a singles support group. It wasn’t loud or in-your-face, just kind of a mellow, character-driven comedy that had some heart underneath the laughs. People liked it when it aired, but it definitely slipped through the cracks over time.
