Shimmering oceans
If a heart-shaped watermelon isn’t the kind of romance that you’re looking for these days, then perhaps we could tempt you with a trip to a sea that sparkles in the night? On the island of Vaadhoo, in the Maldives the plankton in the sea contains a special molecule, called luciferin, which reacts with the oxygen in the water, producing light.
The end result is astonishing, with the sea looking like it’s full of thousands of tiny fairy lights. Imagine laying back on a deck chair, enjoying an evening cocktail, whilst you and your loved one gaze out across a sea of stars. Now that’s an evening you’ll never forget.
