A road crossing a runway
Generally speaking, if you’re in an airport then you stick to the marked walkways, and avoid the path of airplanes unless you want airport security tackling you to the ground. Take a trip to Gibraltar airport, however, and you can drive straight across the runway without anyone batting an eyelid.
The main road out of Gibraltar and into neighboring Spain crosses right over the runway of Gibraltar International Airport. When the Aiport was built, during the 2nd World War, there wasn’t really enough road or air traffic for this to be a problem. However, as both have increased in the area no-one has yet come up with a solution. In the meantime, the road is closed by barriers when an airplane is landing or taking off.
