The world is a weird and wonderful place, with many incredible things that have yet to be discovered. The human race has had years to explore it and to create more wonder to add to it, so we’re willing to bet that there’s a lot you haven’t seen yet, even if you spend all day on Facebook. From a fire that has been burning for over 50 years, to the deepest swimming pool in the world, to the edible wallpaper designed to give you a chocolate fix whenever you need it, we’ve rounded up the most interesting things that you’ve never even heard of. Prepare to be astounded, amused, and to make little squeaky noises at some cute animals too!
Bacteria on an 8-year-old
Unfortunately, we’re starting on something a little less cute. Everyone knows that children are a bit grubby around the edges and, if you’re a parent, you have a considerable amount of experience in just how dirty they can get without even trying. I’ve had days when my son would be freshly out of the bath, nice and clean only for me to turn around 2 minutes later to find a face covered in chocolate and crumby fingers.
This picture really brings home the reality of the struggle for all parents. This is an image showing all the bacteria present on the hand of an 8-year-old after he had been playing outside. A scientist got her son to press his hand into a petri dish and then gave the microbes time to grow. This is the result, and it’s a little gross.
