Leaving things as they are
Eventually, it was decided that, with the efforts that the team had made to shore up the most vulnerable parts of the cliff face, they had done all they needed to do to ensure the future safety of the Falls without affecting the natural flow of the water.
So it turned out that, after all the effort in damming and draining the Falls and riverbed, not much actual structural work was done by the team of engineers and scientists. Thankfully, their efforts weren’t completely in vain. They now had huge amounts of data and a greater understanding of how the Falls were formed.
