Down to business
Despite the massive effort made to drain the riverbed and Falls, the engineers couldn’t hang around for long. Trying to hold nature back for too long never ends well, as every disaster movie will tell you. While the usual route was dammed, more water was being sent down Horseshoe Falls, and this wasn’t sustainable.
So the scientists and engineers set to work, shoring up parts of the Falls that looked precarious, and using anchors, cables, and bolts to make sure they would stay in a decent condition for generations of tourists to come.
