Glittering prizes
It wasn’t just the two gruesome bodies that the engineers found on the bed of the river. There was a lot of sparkle too. While initially there was excitement over whether they could have found gold at the foot of the waterfall, this turned out not to be the case.
Instead, the glint was revealed to be thousands and thousands of coins. People had been throwing money over the waterfall for good luck for decades. Now they had to be collected and donated the upkeep of the attraction.
