#9: Musical guest appearances and variety-show magic (1976–1981)
Part of the genius of The Muppet Show was that celebrities did not just drop by to wave. They entered the Muppet world and played along. Across its five-season run, the program welcomed singers, comedians, actors, dancers, and old-school entertainers, giving it the feel of a classic variety show with feathers and felt. Guests could perform a serious song one moment and share a scene with talking vegetables the next. That range helped the show reach different generations in the same household.
